CRUSH on Giovanna Battaglia

Giovanna Battaglia: former D&G model, currently freelance stylist and fashion editor at L'Uomoo Vogue and and a regular on all my fave blogs ( sartorialist, jakandjil, garancedore, etc). She's got impeccable (and expensive) taste with a ladylike 40's flavor-- undoubtedly someone to whom we can all aspire. I've picked a few of my favorite, and most attainable looks from over the seasons.
Is there a method to her marvelous?
1. she favors luxe materials- tweeds, furs, mix generously.
2. keep that neck covered- tie on a scarf, wear a turtleneck, pop that collar!
3. center part the hair, no-fuss, no-mess bun.
4. simple color palette- monochromatic or choose one colorful piece.
5. roll up your sleeves, put on some long gloves and call it a day.

CRUSH on Gala Gonzalez

The weather's been a bit kooky in nyc this week- from blizzard to sunny and 65 to now gloomy rain. When going into battle with the elements, what's a girl to wear? I looked to Spanish style guru, Gala Gonzalez and her blog of many outfits: http://am-lul.blogspot.com/. Her effortless hi-lo ensembles consisting of everything from Topshop to Hermes, have garnered the attention of many a fashion editor, designer and stylist.
after studying some of her sartorial tendencies, I came up with a few shortcuts to achieve her casual cool lived-in looks.

1. when in doubt, add some plaid

2. pin-thin, mile-long legs never hurt no one

3. socks with heels, tights with shorts

4. this is a hard one for me, but... stick to neutrals, esp black and brown for handbags and shoes.

5. play with proportions- crop tops with full skirt or pants, oversized sweater with skinny pants or shorts.

there's something about M.I.A. she's perfected a blend of effortless boyish hip hop crazy cool charm. it's definitely a tad too much but she still manages to look feminine and adorable. i love her!

i used to spend hours scouring the pages of ebay for cool boy sneakers, most notably retired nike dunks. i love these emerica kicks designed by (bay area!) skater jerry hsu.

check out this amazing little vest from one of the best children's lines out there - makie

Hey, Watch It!

Sorry for the cheesy title, but I just couldn't resist. Okay so i have to admit, i haven't worn a watch.. ever. i have a cell phone, why would i need to?
well, here's to the reasons of the season.

I know we all love the TOY watch- in every color, I just cant decide.

And the best from Diesel's timeframes. I know i was going for a colorful watch direction, but i just had to include this gold number.

Right on Target

Speaking of McQueen himself, the McQ Alexander McQueen for Target collection hits stores and online TODAY.

You've seen the best of the best on Who What Wear, so... what are you waiting for?!?

Long Live McQueen!

I've been obsessed with this collection since the day it hit style.com, but now the day is finally here that I can try these pieces on, pretend like I can afford them and finally be one with Mother Earth, in all it's McQueen glory.
This one just went up in the Bergdorf window this week.
and still hoping to catch a glimpse of these works of art in person sometime soon.
