keep the change

i've been going back and forth on whether to splurge on a gorgeous alexander wang pocket tank. but alas i've found a wallet-savvy substitute: neon tanks from forever 21. only $9.80 instead of $235.

TOPSHOPPING

here's what i bought on opening day... contrary to popular belief, it took about a half hour to get in, which still may or may not seem outrageous to you.

i could wear this floral KM dress every single day- with a moto jacket, with a shawl collar grandpa cardi, with a bf blazer, a big scarf, a hoodie, leggings, over-the-knee boots, ballet flats, gladiator heels, whatever.

i really REALLY wish i had gotten this skirt in the blush pink, but i only found it after i had been there for hours and paid for everything.

this little guy is surprisingly flattering...
dont forget to dig up your old student id's and get an extra 10% off. although with the current exchange rate, it may even be cheaper to try and order from the UK website.

guess who's closet?

ok its teen vogue's accessories editor, Sarah Kuhn's closet but it looks oddly similar to mine... minus the fur of course.

influence

am i the only one who doesn't follow refinery29? for some reason i just discovered it today. here are some postings of kirsten dunst in boy by band of outsiders from the site. it's beautifully done. check it out!

Sweet Success

Photographer Massimo Gammacurta shot these candied suckers. I got a sugar high just trying to decipher his social commentary. hmm.. food for thought: how long do you think it will take before someone figures out how to market and sell these?

CRUSH on Chanel Iman

Okay, so more of the obvious: I mean, her name is CHANEL IMAN, for crying out loud.
Could she BE any more fashion? She can be transformed into nearly anything on the catwalk, however off the runway, she has a few style tendencies:
1. Skinny jeans, boots, long top, crop jacket, great bag (preferably Chanel, of course)
2. For more formal events, pair a cute solid mini-frock with some wide shaft boots, and shiny hair.
3. creepy makeup (optional)
4. Pose at a 3/4 angle and kick one leg out behind you

STATING THE OBVIOUS

For those of you who don't yet own one of these classics, it's really time to start saving/scrimping/buddying up to anyone who may be able to get you a discount. It's not easy to look chic in New York's dismal, fickle weather these days, so here's the simplest shortcut: the Burberry Harbourne Trench. Hitting above the knee, it's shorter than classic trenches, making it less cumbersome (especially on les petites). This trench, like my Fryes, has become one of my go-to pieces- versatile, all-purpose, effortless. Perfect with a cozy cardigan, skinny jeans and boots for this week's rainy forecast.

i like to shop

i was so happy to finally stumble upon the steven alan outpost this morning. nothing like a fresh breath of plaid bib tops to remind me of new york. apart from new merchandise, the store is stocked with some heavily discounted pieces for him and her. come in and buy your man a new liberty print tie!
